Happy Veterans Day
Dear Friend-

The 24th District is home to over 38,000 American veterans and it is my honor as your Congressman to pay tribute to these and all of our nation’s heroes. Today we celebrate all the brave men and women who have served in defense of our great nation. This day is to honor their service and recognize the sacrifices that they, and their families have made to ensure the preservation of our freedoms.

We must continue to be mindful each and every day of the blessings we share as Americans and thank and honor all of the men and women who continue to put the safety of our nation before their own. This past weekend, I had the privilege of hosting our annual Veterans Fair. Some great stories from that event are shared below.

Again, Happy Veterans Day and thank you to all of our nation’s veterans, active military, and military families. We are forever grateful for your service and sacrifice.

  Kenny Marchant
U.S. Congressman Texas-24

Lieutenant Cy Young, U.S. Navy

It was an honor to present a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol to Lieutenant Cy Young at this week’s Veterans Fair. Lt. Young is a U.S. Navy veteran and survivor of the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Lt. Young served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a boat officer while aboard the USS Carteret.

It was an honor to present a flag, flown over the U.S. Capitol, to Private Doil Dalton, a veteran of the U.S. Army. Private Dalton served aboard the USS Hope in the South Pacific during World War II and participated in 7 offensive operations.

Additionally, Private Dalton was among the first U.S. troops to occupy Japan during the war. After returning home from the war, Mr. Dalton was elected to the Grapevine City Council where he served for 17 years.
Ship’s Serviceman Larry Wayne Puckett, U.S. Navy

Finally, it was a privilege to present Ship’s Serviceman Larry Wayne Puckett with five medals he earned while serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Puckett served as a sight trainer on a 5” 38 gun on the USS Floyd B. Parks and the USS Boyd, both Naval Destroyers. I presented the following medals to Mr. Puckett:

 National Defense Service Medal
Vietnam Service Medal w/ 3 Bronze Service Stars
